Nelson Kasfir
Nelson is a political science comparativist working on sub-Saharan Africa, principally in Uganda. He is currently Professor of Government, Emeritus at Darmouth College. He conducted fieldwork on rebel governance in the Rwenzururu secessionist movement in Western Uganda (1962-82) and the National Resistance Army in Central and Western Uganda (1981-86). He is currently writing a book comparing their civilian governance practices, and constructing a worldwide dataset on the governance of 35 rebel groups. He has recently written on the legacy of rebel governance using the NRA in Uganda as a case study.
