Data collected and transmitted are used for the purposes mentioned at the time of collection, which include performing the Centre’s activities and furthering our humanitarian goals. In particular, we use these data to communicate targeted information concerning our activities (e.g. our newsletter service provider Mailchimp and our events management service). The website also uses traffic logs and cookies to identify which pages you visit or files you download. This helps us analyse data about webpage traffic and improve our website to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes.

Third-party websites

The Platform may contain links or references to third-party websites. This Confidentiality Policy does not apply to these third-party websites or to the practices of other companies or individuals that the Centre does not control. The Centre is not responsible for the privacy practices of third party websites.

Communication with third parties

We will not sell, distribute, or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or disclosure is required by law. In some instances, however, the Centre may use third parties to process your information and share data with partners and/or subcontractors, when this is necessary to perform the goals for which data were collected. On these occasions, we will require that these third parties comply strictly with our policy and will prohibit the use of your personal information for their own business purposes.

Third-party providers

We use a third-party provider, Mailchimp, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. Mailchimp provides more information on their services on their website.

International transmission

Your personal data is processed in Switzerland, but may also be stored and used in other countries, including the USA. It should be noted that these locations may include countries that do not guarantee the same level of personal data protection as Switzerland. By submitting data to us, you accept this transfer.

Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

This policy is subject to Swiss substantive law, except its conflict-of-law rules. Any complaint, claim or dispute must be filed with the competent courts for the Centre’s head offices, subject to any appeal filed with the Swiss Federal Supreme Court.
