Abdo Abu-Assaf
Abdo is an intern at the Centre on Armed Groups and a graduate student in International Relations at Central European University. Currently, he is an exchange student at Bard's MA in Global Studies program in New York City. Abdo holds a degree in English and American Studies from the University of Vienna.
Abdo’s research interests encompass border security, migration, integration, and the securitization of migrants and refugees, with a strong focus on conflict resolution and peacebuilding. He is particularly interested in understanding how these issues influence global policies and impact displaced populations, especially in conflict-affected regions. His experiences living in Syria, Egypt, and Austria provide him with a unique and personal perspective on these critical topics.
At the Centre on Armed Groups, Abdo supports research and outreach, assisting in publications, data gathering, and event coordination.
