Taras Fedirko
Taras is Lecturer in Organised Crime and Corruption at the School of Social and Political Sciences, University of Glasgow. He is a political and economic anthropologist researching the war in Ukraine, with a particular focus on pro-government armed groups and informal economies sustaining them since 2014. He also leads the Monitoring Actors and Networks in Ukraine project, a collaborative project tracing political and economic alliances and networks emerging in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
Before joining the University of Glasgow in 2023, Taras held a British Academy Research Fellowship in social anthropology at the University of St Andrews, and a postdoctoral position at the University of Cambridge. He obtained a PhD in social anthropology from Durham University, and an MA in East European Studies from the University of Bologna. He regularly consults for government and civil society organisations working in Ukraine.
